G'day!

Hi!  It's Sarah today, reviewing these Aussie haircare products.  I have been using them for about a month now, as they were on a 3 for £10 offer in Boots and I had heard some good things about them.  They claim to leave long hair silky smooth and shiny, and help to get rid of frizz.  The hair mask also claims to care for dry and damaged hair by reducing breakage.  Wellllll, I can definitely say that my hair looks much healthier lately!  It is much shinier than it used to be and it feels really silky, before I used these products it was dry and got tangled very very easily.  My hair is dry and damaged because I blow-dry it after every wash, because it takes hours for it to dry naturally and by the time it is finally dry it's frizzy, even if I have put some serum on it!  So it's a no-win situation really, although I have noticed that it makes a difference when I get the ends cut regularly and when I leave off using the straightners.  But over the last month I have seen improvement in the overall condition of my hair, all three of these products smell gorgeous and I noticed the shine and smoothness almost straight away.  I use the mask once a week because I think using it every time would be a bit too much, and instantly I feel a difference in the softness and generally it just feels so much better.  Although the damage is still there, that won't magically disappear without me giving up my hair dryer :( but these products help reduce the appearance of it, so I would definitely recommend all of these to anyone with long hair that is dry and gets frizzy!

A Hair-Raising Review

For the last couple of weeks I (Faye) have been trying out the Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Range.  The products used were the shampoo, conditioner, intensive mask and finishing cream.  After two weeks of constant use though I am sorry to say that I am not impressed at all!  As normal shampoo and conditioners the products were really nice and had a lovely smell and left my hair really soft and shiny, but the tousled look was non-existent! Even the finishing cream used last did nothing except smell nice, which is really disappointing because the products are recommended for 'naturally wavy hair'  like mine but I saw only the smallest.  The best bits about it are the smell, the shine it gives your hair and the fact that my waves were a tiiiiiiiiny bit enhanced with the finishing cream.  I don't think that this would make any difference to straight hair, maybe it is meant for hair that is wavier than mine ( my hair is only slightly wavy and that's helped by all the layers I have)......but that's only my opinion!

So this is my hair with the products in.....overall a good set of products but on hair that's only slightly wavy, it does not make any difference to it!!  On the way over the weekend is Sarah's review of Aussie haircare products!

Baking - it's a piece of cake

Today.............we have been baking!

Sarah: Top-Primark
Long sleeved top underneath-Primark
Faye: Blouse-Primark
Cardigan-Pineapple

It started off as a bit of harmless baking but the decorating of the cakes soon became a serious and violent competition.  We were going to take a couple of pics of our outfits today but by the time we had finishing decorating our cakes (which is an incredibly important and serious matter) the light was bad so we decided not to!  Tomorrow we will be reviewing some Herbal Essences products that we have been trying out for the last couple of weeks.  :)

Benefit Cha Cha Tint

Just a quick review of Benefit's fairly new Cha Cha Tint!  At £24.50 on their official website, it is pretty expensive and  neither of us really spend that much money on a single product.  However...!  We have both thought for ages now that shades of coral are really flattering and work on any skin tone, and Cha Cha Tint didn't disappoint.  You can build up the colour on your lips depending on how subtle or bold you like it, and it dries quite matte.  But the best part of it is the staying power, we have both worn it to work a few times and it lasts for hours without fading.  It also is a really nice colour when worn as blusher as well.  The only tiny downside is that it dries quickly, so you have to blend it really fast on both cheeks and lips or it leaves brush marks which is never good! Overall it is a lovely product, and works well as a multi-tasker (even though we mainly use it on lips!) :)

Manic Monday

Coat:Topshop
Dress:Topshop
Belt:Unknown
Necklace:Topshop

Top:River Island
Ring:Primark

Hi!  Another outfit post today, one shoot in colour and the other in black and white because we are photographers and like to experiment!  All photo editing is done using Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, we have Photoshop too but find Corel is just as perfect for editing portrait shoots.  No airbrushing is ever done unless otherwise specified.  And now we've got all that out of the way, back to the outfits themselves!
Sarah:  I'm wearing my current favourite coat from Topshop, it's a really cute shape and is quite short, which works fine for me because longer coats just highlight how short I am (5' 1").  The dress is a few seasons old now, but I find black lace is a classic and can always be worn and dressed up or down.  The necklace is again fairly old, but it's another favourite and one of the few pieces of high street jewellery that hasn't gone a funny colour over time!
Faye:  My over-sized cardi is something that can be worn casually day to day and is great for layering.  Clothes that are comfy as well as stylish are always well worth the money, and can be worn is so many different ways.  The ring completes the look, I ALWAYS wear a ring and the bigger the better in my opinion!  I'm always looking for more and the sales are a good time to pick them up.

Friday I'm in Love

Top:Dorothy Perkins
Leggings:Topshop
Coat:Topshop
Fur Stole:H&M

Hi, just Sarah again! Thought I would try a new improved ootd layout, as our first was small and we had issues with the background! We are slowly getting used to this blogging stuff, so apologies for the random and pretty plain layout but hopefully this will change as we learn.  As for the outfit, the top I am wearing is from the Dorothy Perkins sale and is actually one of the only things I have found in the sales this year.  I've been shopping a few times now since Christmas, and have not been impressed at all; as someone who practically lives in these shops I saw hardly anything in the sales that was on display any time before Christmas.  I tried looking through the endless rails but in the end I gave up and went back to the full price clothes.  One of the exceptions though was Topshop, whose sale I was really enjoying until I found the fur-collared coat I bought a couple of months ago is now around half the price ):  My fault for being impatient I guess!  I've wanted a fur stole for ages, as fur is my guilty pleasure and whatever the item of clothing, if it's fur then I'll like it (faux fur-could never afford the real thing and wouldn't buy it if I could!).  This stole is from H&M, not a sale item but at something like £12.99 then it doesn't need to be.  To make it work with this outfit I removed the hood from the coat so that it laid flat and didn't create a lumpy effect.   Faye's outfit & more to come at the weekend!

And Then Some More...

We did warn that there would be more reviews! Just a quick couple of reviews of products that I (Faye) have bought recently.  First is Rimmel ScandelEyes:

It made my lashes look much thicker from the base to the tips, and without making them look spidery.  It has a good volumising effect, although it is harder to use on my bottom lashes so I've been using a different mascara on them.  Overall, it is good value for money and I would buy it again.

And then there is this set of Simple products I bought: Cleanser, Toner and Moisturiser.

It is hard to remember to cleanse, tone and moisturise every day and in that order, but after using these only a few times I have already noticed how much smoother and refreshed-looking my skin is.  Considering you are putting three different products on your face, it doesn't feel like too much or like you are making your skin oily - the lotions are very light and ideal for all skin types.    Simple is a good all-round brand as it is good for sensitive skin and isn't too rich, and is also very good value.  I will definitely be sticking with these products and after noticing good results so soon after buying, I will remember to use all three every day !

In With The New

Hey, it's back to both of us again today! We have both been making some new year resolutions and have decided to eat more healthily.  Until now it has been an impossible task trying to keep away from the nearest McDonalds or bakery, and to be honest we didn't really try at all.  But there comes a time when you realise that it is not a sign of good health when you get a stitch from merely putting your coat on, and so we have come to the difficult decision that it is time to ditch the junk food and start eating our greens :(

Moving swiftly on, I (Faye) have a new favourite ring from Freedom @ Topshop:

Sarah has got a free gift from Maxfactor, for spending £15+ :

This is one of the best free gifts either of us has ever got, any of which have only ever come from MaxFactor or Boots No7.  They are genuinely good items, and quite generous sample sizes.  The set includes: Nailfinity in Onyx, Nailfinity in Boji (both limited edition apparently), Vibrant Curve Effect Lipgloss, Masterpiece Max Mascara and Kohl Pencil in Black.  Here is the Nailfinity in Boji:

This polish goes on really well, it needs two coats which is pretty normal, and the mascara is really good and definitely will be bought in full size once the sample has run out! The kohl pencil is bold, doesn't smudge and stays on a fair few hours, so overall a really great set.

There are still more items to come that we have bought, reviews will follow shortly :)

Happy New Year!

So, Happy New Year! It's just me (Sarah) today as Faye has unfortunately been called in to work!  I hope that everyone has had a fun and relaxing Christmas, and that you, like me, are nursing a food baby.
I have been hitting the sales this week, and photos of what I bought will follow, although I had to upload this picture of my new ring because I love it so much and it actually fits my long, bony fingers:

I got it in the New Look sale, and I'm just really pleased to have found a shop whose size 'S' rings actually are small enough for me!  My hands and wrists are awkwardly bony and out of proportion to the rest of me, but at least now they're a little prettier.
